An Interactive installation exploring orchids emotions in response to the human interaction
This installation is an interactive interface between human emotional expression and the Phalaenopsis orchid.
The concept was inspired by the visual similarity between the vascular patterns of orchid leaves and human cardiac imagery, suggesting a deeper, symbolic connection between humans and the botanical world.
The project was realized using Cinema 4D for simulation and Arduino for interactive hardware implementation. It features a design system employing materials that respond to environmental stimuli, integrated with LED lighting to visualize the orchid's response to human interaction.
The purpose of this installation is to provide an innovative platform for audience engagement with natural elements, facilitating a contemplative space to reflect on the intrinsic links between human emotion and the natural environment.

Background Research
story of phalaenopsis
According to the Chinese legend, there was a butterfly that flew to a secluded valley in search of a place to lay its eggs. As it fluttered about, it chanced upon a group of plants that were unlike any it had ever seen before. Drawn to their delicate beauty and sweet fragrance, the butterfly approached the plants and made a wish to become like them.
The people who lived in the valley were amazed by the beauty of the orchid and soon began to cultivate it, creating new varieties and hybrids that were even more beautiful than the original. Today, the Phalaenopsis orchid is one of the most beloved and popular orchids in the world, admired for its delicate beauty and ease of care.
White and pink Phalaenopsis orchids are popular flowers in China and are often used for decoration during the Chinese New Year. They symbolize good luck, prosperity, and happiness
