Background & Concept

  • Inspiration: The vascular patterns of orchid leaves resemble human cardiac imagery, symbolizing a deeper connection between the botanical world and human emotion.

  • Goal: Create an installation that visualizes this connection, transforming orchid responses into a metaphor for human–nature interdependence.

Design Approach

Simulation & Prototyping: Developed in Cinema 4D to simulate form, lighting, and interaction.

  • Interactive System: Arduino hardware with environmental sensors (ultrasonic + touch) linked to air modules and LED lighting.

  • Responsive Feedback: Balloons and lights dynamically react to human presence and touch, visualizing the orchid’s "emotional response."

Experience

Visitors enter a 5m x 5m installation with balloon modules and responsive lighting.

  • Up to 10 participants per session (10 minutes).

  • The space evolves through colors, inflation, and illumination, creating a contemplative environment to reflect on emotional states.
